When the Coronavirus pandemic caused a decline in income, a burger&seafood pub in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, ripped down one of its most precious possessions: the walls.
For 9 years Hott Leggz Restaurant and Bar has had an ever-changing decor made of legit dollar bills. It was a tradition: guests would write anything they liked on their banknote of choice and hang it at the bar as a memory, reports WSVN.
But since the quarantine forced the joint to switch to delivery and to-go service only, the revenue was not so great anymore. So on April 16th the owners decided to put that memory wall down so they could pay all 23 members of the staff. They managed to collect no less than $10,000 in cash for the salary checks.
This did not really phase the employers who claim they were glad to find a way out like that and help their employees during the tough times. When the place goes fully back in business, the guest will be encouraged to put new dollar bills on the wall, restarting the tradition.
