1 Dead 2 Injured In Motel 8 Standoff With Active Shooter In Rockford, Illinois

Police forces in Rockford, Illinois, are currently exchanging fire with an unknown shooter who is hiding in a building of a Super 8 Motel.

The incident started past midnight on Colosseum Drive on May 17th, reports Mystatleine.com/Eyewitness News.

Police Chief Dan O’Shea reported, one person is dead and two injured. The identities of the victims are currently unknown: there were rumors that one of the local workers received gunshots, but Chief O’Shea could not verify or deny that information.

All residents had been evacuated. The new guests were seen turned around because of an active shooter situation investigation.

There is a large police presence at the motel, and gunfire continues as of 4:06 a.m. CDT

A bomb squad has arrived at the scene, which is typical for a situation like this, reports Eyewitness News. The incident remains ongoing as of 5 a.m. CDT.
